How Many Dating App Matches Does It Take to Find a Hookup?

In today’s fast-paced, swipe-happy dating world, finding a hookup may not be as elusive as you think. We surveyed 1,000 dating app users in the U.S., spanning various genders, sexual orientations, and generations, to uncover juicy truths about dating app hookups.

On average, users match with 25 people per month, but only 8% of those matches lead to a hookup. Translation: it takes about 12.5 matches to score one successful rendezvous. For 71% of users who turned to dating apps solely for hookups and for the 92% who feel apps make finding quick connections easier, this statistic isn’t all that surprising.

Diving deeper into demographics, bisexual and gay users favor casual flings more than their straight counterparts, who often seek something longer-term. Spending on premium features? There’s a good chance you’re after some playful encounters! Interestingly, a whopping 88% of users are upfront about their intentions, whether seeking something casual or serious.

Living miles apart? It better be worth it! Nearly 74% of users won’t drive more than 25 miles for a hookup. Gay and Gen Z users are even more particular, with 50% refusing to travel over 10 miles. The takeaway? Convenience is key!

Despite the digital trend, 57% of users still prefer meeting hookups organically rather than online, although virtual love is on the rise. And if things don’t match up? Nearly half of users have walked out on a date because their match didn’t look like their profile photos.

In the end, the route from match to hookup is as diverse as our dating stories. Happy swiping!
