Ever wondered what keeps couples happy in the long run? A recent study reveals that intimacy is the golden key to better sexual well-being for couples on a daily basis and even over a year. Intimacy, which involves sharing personal feelings and empathic responses, is linked to higher sexual satisfaction and desire, as well as lower distress.
The study included 211 couples with an average age of 30.2 years, and it focused on their sexual activities over a 35-day period and then 12 months later. Among these couples, 75 identified as sexually diverse. The researchers discovered that the more intimate couples were, the more they noticed positive sexual cues like loving thoughts and feelings. This led to higher levels of sexual desire and satisfaction, and less sexual distress.
Interestingly, the study found that a person’s daily intimacy was tied to their own increased sexual desire and satisfaction a year later. However, it didn’t significantly impact their partner’s sexual well-being.
These findings highlight the powerful role of intimacy and positive sexual cues in romantic relationships, making it clear that staying close and connected with your partner can pay off big time in the long run.
