Good news for women struggling with low sexual desire: recent research underscores the effectiveness of mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in rekindling libidos. A study conducted in Germany with 51 women aged 22 to 69 reveals promising results.
Participants, who mostly identified as heterosexual and were in monogamous relationships, engaged in an eight-week online program. They explored either mindfulness-based therapy or CBT, learning through text, audio, and video materials. Both groups participated in sex education and therapy exercises, focusing on self-examination, body image improvement, and sensual touch with partners. Their progress was guided by email coaching from budding clinical psychologists trained in both therapies.
The outcome? An impressive 86% of the women found the program effective. Specifically, 91% of the mindfulness group and 81% of the CBT group reported benefits, highlighting the high efficacy of both methods. Mindfulness helps women focus on the present, shedding distractions and daily stress, while CBT challenges and corrects negative thinking patterns that hinder sexual interest.
If low libido is affecting your relationship, exploring mindfulness and CBT online resources could be a game-changer. For further assistance, working with a sex therapist knowledgeable in these approaches might provide additional support.
