Are You a Mate Poaching Magnet?

Have you ever wondered why some people just can’t seem to stay faithful? It turns out, between 30 to 50 percent of people have tried “mate poaching,” which means trying to attract someone who’s already in a relationship! Men tend to engage in this more than women, and guess what? The dark triad trait of psychopathy is linked to making more of these sneaky attempts.

For those on the receiving end, men said they were more successfully poached than women. Could our personalities be playing a role? Researchers looked into it and found that extraverts are more likely to get involved in any kind of poaching behavior. Their outgoing nature makes them attractive and bold enough to try and steal someone’s partner.

Interestingly, women reported being the target of poaching more often, while men said they were more often the successful “poachees.” Dark triad traits like psychopathy were linked with being a target, as those without empathy might give off vibes that make them attractive to poachers.

So, whether you’re an extravert who loves the spotlight or someone with darker personality traits, it appears your personality can say a lot about your role in the world of mate poaching!
