The “orgasm gap” has been a hot topic for years, showing that men are much more likely to reach climax during sex than women. A YouGov study sheds light on this disparity and uncovers some interesting facts. Only about three in 10 British women (30%) say they orgasm every time they have sex, with 11% experiencing multiple orgasms. In contrast, three in five British men (61%) reach climax every time they have sex.
Interestingly, sexual orientation plays a role. While 30% of straight women always orgasm, 32% of bisexual women do, and 40% of lesbian women enjoy consistent orgasms. On the other hand, 63% of straight men always climax, more than gay men at 56% and bisexual men at 54%.
One key finding: straight men often overestimate their partners’ satisfaction. Only 42% of straight men insist their partner usually climaxes, but 67% of straight women accurately report their partner’s consistency.
The study pinpoints the importance of clitoral stimulation. About 38% of straight women who always orgasm include it during sex. Lesbian and bisexual women, who are more likely to enjoy oral sex and clitoral stimulation, have higher orgasm rates.
So, it seems enhancing communication and focusing on what pleases both partners can help close this orgasm gap!
