Despite societal disapproval, infidelity persists at high rates. This curiosity led to a study
focusing on the alignment between the motives for and outcomes of infidelity. Analyzing
responses from 94 individuals who admitted to infidelity, the study revealed that most affairs
began at work or online and often included emotional components like infatuation alongside
sexual relations. Interestingly, a significant majority (63%) did not regret their actions. Motives
such as dissatisfaction and neglect often led to emotional fulfillment, whereas sexual motives
correlated with sexual satisfaction. These findings offer insights into the complex nature of
infidelity, suggesting that the outcomes often meet the initial motives, regardless of subsequent
regret.
